Wedding Photography

The essence of a wedding day is not captured in the scripted or staged photographs but rather in the smiles, laughter, tears and exchanged glances between you and your loved ones. It’s these moments of unguarded emotion which tell the real love story.

My aim is to capture all of this and create a love story using only photographs.

Before the wedding

Picking a wedding photographer is an important decision for your big day so it is important that you feel comfortable with whoever you choose. That’s why, where possible, I will meet you both in person a couple of times prior to your wedding, so you can get to know me, and I can find out more about your plans and understand the type of images you want.

Preparation is key, so if I haven’t worked with your wedding venue before, I will arrange to visit it in advance in order to familiarise myself with the best shooting opportunities. We can’t always guarantee the weather so in case the day is a tad wetter or darker than we would have liked; having visited the venue and being familiar with the layout and facilities, ensures that you will always have beautiful photographs whether they are taken inside our out.

I always have extra lighting with me and just in case the glorious British weather decides to change suddenly. I also come with ground sheets to stand on, umbrellas and little extras that ensure you have beautiful photographs taken that you will love and treasure.

If you have a particularly nervous bride or groom or would like to familiarise yourselves with being in front of a camera, you may want to consider having a pre wedding shoot.

Pre wedding shoot

Pre wedding shoots and engagement celebration portraits are a really great way for you both to find out what it’s like to be in front of a camera. The images taken during this shoot will be fabulous to use as signature board images, a guest book for people to sign on the big day or even have ‘save the day’ or ‘thank you’ cards made.

If your day is going to be particularly busy and there just won’t be time to get all the photos you want without you neglecting your guests, this is a great way of getting all the images you want and also using it as a practice run for the big day.

On the big day

If you were to have a full days photography coverage, my typical day will begin with the bride prior to the ceremony. Here I will capture some lovely shots from the early part of your day including the bride getting ready and very importantly the dress, shoes and flowers, plus all the little details that you put so much thought into.

This is also a good opportunity for me to get an early introduction to some of the key members of your wedding party and for everybody to get used to me being around with the cameras.
From here I like to move on to the wedding venue about 30 minutes before the ceremony to ensure I that get excellent coverage of the groom, best man, ushers, and guests. I usually take a number of pictures during the ceremony, in an unobtrusive way which has been agreed with the venue/church beforehand.

Most of my photographs are taken of real events as they unfold. This results in a much more natural and engaging set of images. I do however take a selection of more formal, group photographs if requested after the ceremony as well as some relaxed portraits of the bride and groom.

My coverage then continues right through until the party really starts much later in the evening.

After the wedding

After the blur of the day is over, you’ll have treasure trove of images to hang in your home. Your photographs will be ready approximately 6 weeks after the day. I will supply them in a previously agreed format.
