Dudley Limestone Caverns and a River Cruise

Not many photographers, let alone people can say that all in one day, they went underground, overground, got completely soaking wet (I’ve never been so sodden – I looked like Alice Coopers ugly sister), and finished the day shoulder shuffling to the macarena on a river boat cruise………….I can!!!!!

Nicki and Ran’s day was certainly one to remember and brought with it excitement and some real challenges for me as a professional photographer.

The ceremony was held in the Dudley Limestone Caverns which presented the problem of lighting and of course lots of water. One wrong step and myself and all my gear would go ‘splash’! I had to navigate the darkness, jump from moving barges to tiny landing platforms and capture all the amazing details.

After the ceremony we all headed to Stourport on Severn and the guests boarded a river boat, while the newly married couple and I headed along the river path to take more wonderful photos. The sky had begun to rumble and turn a very ominous colour and as I started to snap away, the heavens opened.

Oh my days!

All three of us huddled under a tree and tried to wait for the storm to pass. Credit to both Nicki and Ran, the smiles never left their faces and in the end we all gave up pretending that we weren’t going to get any wetter, and made a dash back for the boat (stopping to take a few snaps along the way).

The sun came out as the boat pulled away from its mooring and the smell of bbq filled the air. The DJ got the music started and soon people were singing, eating and waving to people along the river banks.

We just wanted to take a minute to say thank you so much for the wedding photos.
We’ve been through them countless times in the last week on our own and with friends and family, laughing, ooohing and ahhhing our way through them every time! We’re definitely going to have a hard time choosing which ones to get printed to put up around the house.
You captured the whole day absolutely perfectly. It was exactly the feel we wanted for our photos.
We had so many comments from guests about how hard you were working and how much of a pleasure it was to have you around. Even after the torrential rain shower we had to endure during our ‘couple photos’ you were still all smiles!
Thank you again,
Nicki and Ran x

Moddershall Oaks

The first time I visited the beautiful Moddershall Oaks to meet Emma and Mike it was a cold snowy winters day and as I slowly drove up the long twisting drive, I was able to have a look around at the gardens and beautiful scenery. I had a feeling in my bones that their wedding day was going to be just a little bit special!

Meeting this wonderful couple for the first time at the hotel, I instantly felt so at ease and as we walked and talked, and then had a lovely cup of tea, chatting about their plans, I knew that we would all have an absolute ball on the day.

Emma follows my instagram account and loves the natural style of photography as much as I do, so when she whipped out her phone and started talking through my feed and pointing out which photos she loved, I will admit to getting just a tad excited!

The wedding day was one to remember, Emma was absolutely stunning in her gown and as she walked down the path to the patiently waiting Mike, there was a collective intake of breath from all the guests. Her smile never left her face all day and it was the same for everyone there.

As we drove away into the sunset at the end of this fabulous day, both my second photographer (Nic) and I had face ache from smiling along with everyone all day long!

Firstly I want to thank you for all your hard work shooting our wedding, you were amazing! My mum has not stopped talking about how helpful, kind and unintuitive you were while shooting.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for our wedding photos! You and Nic have done such an amazing job!!!! We absolutely love them all!!! I just don’t know how we will choose the ones we want. – Emma

Fazeley Studios

Oh what a wonderful, happy, smiley, electric, fun-filled, super-duper day!

There were permanent smiles on everyone’s faces (including mine) and I’m sure there were a lot of aching cheeks at the end of the night!

Having shot Sam and Mikes’ engagement photos in Digbeth last autumn; when it came to photos of just the two of them, we knew exactly what locations to head for and which street art to use as backdrops. Being old hands at the photo shoot malarkey from this first experience, they were both so relaxed about it all, that I was able to capture even more gorgeous photos of the two of them, and if it’s at all possible, with even bigger smiles!

The day started at the pub (naturally). The boys had a pint or two, to calm any nerves (sshh don’t tell the bride) and then we all made our way on foot to Fazeley Studios. As you can tell from the photos, we had just a bit of fun along the way!

I have never been a part of such a happy and laughter filled ceremony. At times I found I really had to concentrate on holding my cameras still, as I too was laughing along with the couple and all their quests.

I know I say this A – LOT, but this truly is one wedding day that I will never forget!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You were incredible! I couldn’t have asked for a better day or a better photographer.

-Sam

Dodford Manor

Fun, fun, fun …..!!

Oh my goodness, what a great wedding day with such warm, happy and genuinely lovely people.

It may have been some of the most atrocious weather you could have on a wedding day, however it never dampened anyone’s spirits. In fact, I’d say that it made the whole day a more intimate event. There was so much laughter and merriment throughout the whole day, that when we drove away at the end of the night, our faces ached from smiling so much!

I was recommended to Sam and Jody by a couple who’s wedding I shot a couple of years ago and I was thrilled when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. They are such a down to earth and lovely couple and I knew from our first meeting that their wedding day was going to be one to remember.

It was a day of firsts for me. My first Monday wedding, my first time shooting at the stunning Dodford Manor (even in miserable weather) and the first time I managed to catch my second photographer / assistant red handed eating my sandwiches, when he thought I wasn’t looking!

With its stone walls, beams and huge floor to ceiling windows looking over the fields, the manor is a gorgeous wedding venue! It was a bit of a shame that we couldn’t go outside for long to take more photos in the beautiful grounds and countryside but this was never a problem. We took lots of gorgeous, natural photographs inside and then set up a few lights, using the lovely stone walls as a backdrop for the more posed and formal shots that Sam and Jody wanted.

Hi Stephanie,

Love, Love my photos! Thank you!

I love them!

Ardencote Manor

I believe in the 6 degrees in separation theory, and being a wedding photographer who has a fair few years experience, this is quickly being halved as I get to meet and photograph so many people each year.

Nathan and Alyona were looking for a wedding photographer, having a mooch through my website and blogs when Nathan recognised the groom from a wedding I shot over 3 years ago (Gorcott hall) as one of his old football pals. Both Nathan and Alyona loved the photographs so they sent me an email asking if I was available on their wedding date. It was meant to be!

They are both such wonderful people and their wedding day was gorgeous. Both Nathan and Alyona are very musical and this was reflected on the day. Alyona even surprised Nathan, serenading him with a song she wrote just for him. There was not a dry eye in the room when she finished singing!

They were married in St Leonards (Beoley Church) which is where Nathan had asked Alyona to become Mrs Cooper, as they walked in the fields just below the church grounds one day.

The wedding reception was held at the stunning Ardencote Manor and I was a very happy photographer, as just like the church it’s a venue I know well, having shot there many times before. Although it was quite chilly early on in the day, the sun came out and we were able to have lots of fun outside and take advantage of both the church and manors grounds.

Hi Steph,

Thank you so much for our photos. They look beautiful.

I love them 🙂 Well done!!!! – Alyona
